Coyotes Acquire Draft Assets in Gardiner Trade
Draft Capital Haul
The Arizona Coyotes have added to their already impressive draft capital, acquiring a 2024 third-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick in exchange for defenseman Brad Gardiner. The trade, which was announced on June 29, 2023, sees the Coyotes trade Gardiner to the Ottawa Senators.
Chychrun Acquisition
In a separate move, the Coyotes acquired Jackob Chychrun from the Arizona Coyotes. Chychrun, a young and talented defenseman, gives the Coyotes a much-needed boost on the blue line.
Draft Capital Stockpile
With the Gardiner trade and the Chychrun acquisition, the Coyotes now enter the 2024 NHL Draft with a significant amount of draft capital. The Coyotes have picks throughout all rounds of the draft, giving them plenty of flexibility in making selections.
Cooper Krigbaum's Perspective
"The Coyotes have made a smart move in acquiring these draft assets," said Cooper Krigbaum, a hockey analyst. "They have added to their already impressive draft capital, which will give them the flexibility to make some key selections in the upcoming draft. This trade is a sign that the Coyotes are looking to build for the future."
